Halton Catholic Children’s Foundation (HCCF) has announced it’s 5th year for a back-to-school initiative to provide school supplies and support other basic needs like clothing, shoes, and outerwear for students in Halton’s Catholic Community starting in September and throughout the school year.

Victoria Craig-Dekoninck, Executive Director of HCCF, acknowledges that “Back-to-school can be particularly challenging for struggling students and their families. There is a need for basic school supplies, backpacks, cool weather clothing, shoes, and outerwear that fits growing children and technology at home that supports learning and immersive educational experiences.”

HCCF needs the community’s support to help students and families in need with their back-to-school experience and ensure that each student is starting the year on the right foot. This upcoming school year, the HCCF hopes to reach its goal of providing school supplies to students in need in Halton’s Catholic Community. On top of this, HCCF will be raising funds to support basic necessities such as clothing, shoes, food, and school experiences, not only for back-to-school but for the duration of the school year.

To make this campaign possible, HCCF has once again partnered with Halton Catholic District School Board (HDCSB), Child & Youth Counsellors (CYCs), social workers and other community leaders and volunteers. With their help, along with the support and generosity of the Halton community, HCDSB students in need will be prepared and encouraged for the school year ahead.

The HCCF Back-to-School Campaign will begin August 18th and continue until September 30th.  During this 6-week period, we are hoping to raise $30,000 from our Halton Catholic Community through both one-time and monthly donations.

“The combination of corporate partners as donors and individual donors is really big for us,” continues Mrs. Craig-Dekoninck. “It means that we can say yes to 150 children who need backpacks filled with supplies (which on average cost about $200 per child) – making our fundraising objective more attainable and donations more manageable for our community members.”

HCCF Back To School Campaign Highlights:

• Make a donation from August 18th to September 30, 2025
• Goal to provide students with much needed school supplies
• Goal to support basic necessity requirements for students in need throughout the school year
• Fundraising objective: $30,000
• In addition, aim to acquire 4 new corporate partners as a result of the campaign

The HCCF is grateful for the tremendous amount of support shown by the HCDSB, CYC’s, and the Halton Catholic Community as a whole. Together we will ensure every student starts and ends their school year successfully.
