DECEMBER 2019

HOPE!  DIGNITY!  EQUITY!

“The financial help we received from the foundation was far more than I could have ever hoped for. Not only were we going to be able to put food on our table for our children, but we were going to be able to provide our children with a wonderful Christmas. My thanks will never be enough to show our gratitude for the gift you provided my children with. Time and time again, I learn how amazing and generous our community truly is. It was because of amazing donors, my children were able to enjoy the company of our family without stress or worry – for a short period of time the financial burden we felt had been lifted. We will never find the words to truly express our thanks, but please know we will forever be grateful. I hope through donations the foundation will continue to play such an important part in the lives of other children.” – HCDSB Parent

“HCCEF funding enabled this student to participate in the year-end trip to Ottawa with his class. The family was able to save and contribute some of the cost of the trip. This student was able to experience cultural and religious practices characteristic to our Canadian heritage as well as our Catholic Faith. He expanded his understanding of how we are a Church in the world and how we are connected through solidarity to each other and our global neighbours. This student participated in the Mass at Notre Dame Basilica – a symbol that Catholicity is a historically entrenched part of Canadian culture, and that our right to celebrate Mass everywhere and at any opportunity should be exercised. This trip supports the class’ yearlong efforts of promoting a way of being together, resulting in a positive Catholic learning environment.” – HCDSB Principal

Congratulations, as a donor & supporter, you gave these students the opportunity to succeed in school.

Thank you!

THE HALTON CATHOLIC COMMUNITY CARES ABOUT STUDENTS IN NEED!

The Halton Catholic Community has been AMAZING.

A great big THANK YOU to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School and the Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Council #15920 for your recent donations.

Thank you for helping low-income students to overcome:

1) The Achievement Gap – An achievement gap can form between low-income students and their peers due to financial barriers to learning.

2) Mental Health Challenges – Social exclusion, shame, anger, stigma, low self-esteem, low confidence and loss of hope are all issues related to student poverty.

You are helping students in need to succeed in school.

SOCKS FOR KIDSArticle Image

We were very fortunate to have the opportunity to pack up awesomely warm socks for HCDSB students in need. Thanks to Canadian Tire Jumpstart for their generous donation of 432 pairs….WOW!

A great way to keep feet warm on these cold winter days.

Thank you for helping to show students that the community cares about them, and provide them with hope, dignity & equity.

End of year donations

Thinking about making an end of year donation?

Here are a couple amazing opportunities that might have a soft spot in your heart:

1) GIFTS OF CARING

Help HCDSB students across Halton with basic necessities and school experiences that have a fee – help them to overcome barriers to learning. Every child deserves a chance to succeed.

2) SCHOOL TRIPS FOR OAKVILLE KIDS PROJECT

A partnership with the Oakville Community Foundation to help Oakville kids (HCDSB schools) have the same opportunity as their peers to experience a school trip of a lifetime

Consider making a monthly donation…it will help you to budget, and will help more students in need.

Thank you for your consideration.
